CASSIDIAN targeting fast growing Middle East Cyber Security market

First demonstration of an integrated offer dedicated to protect oil and gas industrial processes at the ‘Cyber Security Forum for Energy and Utilities’ in Abu Dhabi
Offerings in Middle East will protect governments, national agencies, strategic industries and critical infrastructure from increasingly sophisticated threats
Cassidian CyberSecurity is reinforcing its presence in the Middle East and will address the fast-growing Cyber Security market in this region. This step follows the recent announcement of the new Cassidian CyberSecurity companies which will be based in Germany, the United Kingdom and France. By gathering together all of the Cyber Security expertise existing within the EADS Group, Cassidian CyberSecurity intends to establish itself as a key dedicated player with substantial critical mass.
Cassidian CyberSecurity will be using the “Cyber Security Forum for Energy and Utilities” in Abu Dhabi from 21 to 24 May 2012 to showcase the first demonstration of an integrated offer to protect oil and gas industrial processes in the Middle East.
Hervé Guillou, CEO of Cassidian CyberSecurity, said:
“The Cyber Security sector is experiencing a dramatic rise in both the number and sophistication of threats. This includes attacks from nation states to terrorist groups, ‘hacktivists’, criminal gangs and more conventional hackers. In 2011, the damage to global economies was estimated at about 290 billion Euros. The first step to secure vulnerable infrastructure is to raise the awareness of decision makers of very real cyber threats and on their potential economic consequences. Cassidian’s focus in the Middle East is a real benefit to stakeholders who are looking to work with trusted experts fully aware of these threats. This market is very dynamic and we expect significant growth.”
Guy Meguer, General Manager of Cassidian CyberSecurity in the Middle East, added:
“We look forward to showcase our capabilities, and the first chance will be the ‘Cyber Security Forum for Energy and Utilities’ in Abu Dhabi. There we will implement an attractive demonstration of an integrated offer dedicated to protecting oil and gas industrial processes. This technology is key to ensuring the defence of the critical entities we all depend on against increasing cyber threats.”
Cassidian already has a number of cyber security offerings in the Middle East region: In partnership with Khalifa University and Emiraje Systems L.L.C., Cassidian has established the Cyber Operations Centre of Excellence located at Khalifa University in 2011. Cassidian and Emiraje Systems have committed to provide resources and equipment to Khalifa University to support the establishment and operation of the Centre, which in turn will encourage and support the development of intellectual property in the field of cyber operations at the University.
