Airbus trains cyber security students from four major engineering schools

Paris, 27 September 2017 – Airbus has signed a series of partnerships to help provide cyber security training for students at four major engineering schools: IMT Atlantique (Institut Mines-Telecom, which arose from the merger between Mines de Nantes and Télécom Bretagne), ESIEA Paris-Laval (Engineering school for the digital world), EFREI (General IT and digital technologies engineering school) and INSA (National Institute of Applied Sciences) Centre Val de Loire.

The goal of these partnerships is to reinforce practical training for students on a cyber security course through a programme of instruction with highly specific applications. These courses are given by Airbus CyberSecurity engineers using the CyberRange training platform and offer a practical approach to developing the skills needed in various IT security engineering professions. In particular, they will focus on ways to protect against new and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

“Airbus CyberSecurity is constantly looking for new talent, whether SOC (Security Operation Centre) analysts, forensic specialists and penetration testers, security integrators and architects, or information systems security consultants. This is why we have decided to play an active role in their training,” explained Frédéric Julhes, Head of CyberSecurity France at Airbus Defence and Space.

The CyberRange solution from Airbus CyberSecurity can reproduce a company’s network down to the slightest detail with IT or industrial equipment in dedicated training workspaces. The students can therefore put into practice the knowledge they have acquired and develop their know-how in an operational context. CyberRange can also be used to create highly sophisticated attack scenarios. The teachers can thus interact by generating legitimate or illicit actions in order to assess the robustness of the defences put into place by the students.
