ECYSAP – the European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform – is a European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) project co-financed by the European Commission and four ministries of defence (Spain, Italy, France and Estonia). It aims to develop and implement a European operational platform for enabling real-time Cyber Situational Awareness with rapid response defensive capabilities and decision-making support for military end-users. This integrated and modular platform will be used by individual nation states – both within their borders and on military expeditionary operations – and by European coalitions.
ECYSAP at a glance
- Support risk identification, assessment and propagation estimation at both Computer Information System (CIS) and mission (MI) levels
- Support cyber threat response, as well as strategic cyber decision-making
- Facilitate information sharing and reporting at technical and mission levels and between both
What are its objectives?
Who’s involved?
The ECYSAP consortium comprises nine participants from four European countries. These partners come from various verticals, including industry, universities and SMEs, and have complementary areas of expertise. They include:
What does ECYSAP mean for Airbus Defence and Space Cyber?
We will use insights gained from ECYSAP to bring new capacities to our existing solutions and to potentially develop new ones that will be integrated into national, European and international defence proposals – enriching our traditional C2 systems for defence (land, maritime, air, space etc.). However, ECYSAP concepts and prototypes may also be used in the civil world, particularly in EU critical infrastructure (utilities, energy, transportation etc.).
Moreover, ECYSAP should allow Airbus to strengthen its collaboration with the French MoD on Cyber Situational Awareness. However, we also hope to begin working with new clients in other geographies – further establishing ourselves as pan-European leader in cyber security for defence purposes.
“Today, more than ever, Cyber Situational Awareness is one of the main focus points of European defence.
With the ECYSAP project, we expect to strengthen the capacities of European ministries of defence
to acquire cyber situational awareness capabilities and support decision-making,
while allowing strong cooperation between EU Member States.“
